Ellu podi


ELLU PODI is a famous South Indian recipe that goes very well with idli,dosa and plain white rice.

 As we all know black sesame seeds are packed with essential calcium. Hence, it's too good for our

 bone strength. Also the black urad dhal especially skinned variety serves you with a lot of health

 benefits.

 In my childhood my mom used to make a lot of podi varieties which are healthy as well as

 tasty.  Here, I have given a simple yet yummy ellu podi recipe that will save you in last minute

 cooking..








INGREDIENTS:

  •                          Black sesame seeds - 3/4 cup
  •                          Black Urad dal          - 1cup
  •                          (split and skinned)

  •                           Dried red chilly       - 16 Nos
  •                           Curry leaves            - 1/4cup
  •                           Asafoetida               - 1/4 tsp
  •                           Rock salt                 - 1tbsp 



METHOD ;

             ðŸ‘‰Dry roast urad dhal until it leaves nice aroma and turns a little brown. Keep it aside

             ðŸ‘‰Dry roast sesame seeds until it pops out. Set aside.

             ðŸ‘‰ Pour a little oil and roast the dried red chilly  until it gives black spots.

             ðŸ‘‰ Dry roast curry leaves until they are crispy.    

             ðŸ‘‰ Turn off the stove,add asafoetida and roast.



                👉Cool down everything.

                 ðŸ‘‰ Once done, grind everything together coarsely. 

                 ðŸ‘‰ Don't forget to add salt.

                 ðŸ‘‰ Store it in an airtight container and use when needed.



NOTE;

              👉   Idli podi varieties should always be ground coarsely.

              ðŸ‘‰  Always roast the ingredients on low to medium flame.

              ðŸ‘‰  White sesame seeds also can be used.
